Subject: North Texas (Dallas - Fort Worth)
Hi John:
We relocated to Texas from Southern California and can't find your products here, or in Milwaukee , Wisconsin, where my daughter lives. There is not a good sweet and sour available that even begins to hold a candle to Tavern. Everytime I visit my son in Denver , I bring back alot of Tavern, but friends and family end up with it.
In any event, is Tavern available in North Texas or Wisconsin?
If not, why not? I believe my son, (same name) may have contacted you. He told me something about buying product directly from Tavern. I've found it online, but shipping costs make the product really expensive.
HELP!
Regards,
Gerald W.

Hello John,
I am sorry to bother you with a trivial question, but after waiting for a few weeks to see if your web site would be relaunched, I decided to contact you directly. I recently ate at Camerones Restaurant & Cantina and the manager there graciously gave me a bottle of your margarita mix because we complimented him on the quality of the margarita's we enjoyed. I have a friend of a friend who owns a few casual Mexican restaurants and before telling him about your product I just had a couple quick questions....
1) What is the shelf life of the bottle unopened?
2) What is the shelf life of the bottle once opened?
Thank you,

I'm interested in purchasing Tavern products, but I now live in Ohio. While living in CA I could purchased at Ralph's markets, but Ohio does not carry your product. Do you know where in NW Ohio that I can purchase your products?
Thank you for you response to my request!

Hi,
My name is Sandy XXXXXX and I live in Santa Maria, California. We have been making our margaritas with your mix for years and we can't find a better mix - just makes the very best drinks.
My problem is...we have been purchasing the mix from Ralph's Market and we just found out tonight that they have discontinued selling your mix. I have called five other Ralph stores within an hours drive from where we live and no one has any and they too have discontinued your product.
So, where can I find this mix?? Do you have a local distributor in our area that we can order from them??
Please let me know - I have spoken with a representative from your Florida location long ago but agreed that it would cost too much money for the shipping to have you send it directly to me from there.
Thanking you in advance for your help in locating this mix.

Hi, Stater Bros stopped selling your Sweet and Sour Mix and I have had no luck finding your mix any closer than 30 miles away, so I buy cases at a time. Can you tell me if there is a place close to Yucaipa, CA 92399 that sells it? Thank You!

Thanks John:
You have finally answered a question I have had for a long time, and no amount of Google searches could answer – polysorbate 80. I will continue to be a faithful Tavern customer. I found out a long time ago that the secret to making a good margarita in the style of Mexican restaurants is to use only sweetened lemon juice – I found Tavern to be the only true pure sweeted lemon juice.

Hi:
I use your lemon bar mix to make margaritas – Tavern is the only good one. When I use the concentrate, I get a nice foam on top of the poured margarita. However, if I buy the regular, non-concentrated mix, it does not foam. What is the difference between the two. Can I add something to the non-concentrate to make it foam.
Thanks

Hello,
I just had to comment that I LOVE your mix. It is the only one that gives me the most scrumptious margaritas. Of course I use it for all my cocktails. Your mix has the most authentic flavor. I cannot say enough about it. I was disappointed that I can no longer find it in Ralphs grocery store. I live in Redondo Beach,CA. I see that on your site it can be found in Bristol Farms. I will try to find it there. If there are any other stores that you sell it to could you please let me know. One way or another I must have your sweet and sour for my cocktails!!! So Delicious!!!!!
Thank You,

I'm located in south Florida, and I'm throwing a surprise birthday party for my mother this weekend and she loves your sour mix! I'm looking for a place that sells it in the Broward/Palm Beach County area. I tried to call the toll free number you have listed for more information, but was only able to leave a message on the recording. PLEASE get back to me as soon as possible so I can make this birthday that much more special for my mother! Thank you so much in advance. Sincerely, Lisa.

For everyone that has trouble finding the Sweet & Sour base, the answer is simple. Just order direct and have a case shipped to you. I used to buy it from my local Mexican restaurant, but when I moved to N Florida 15 years ago, I hunted down the source of the product and began buying from Tavern Products directly. At that point (before the Motleys were in the picture), I was one of two individuals who bought directly from Tavern - she referred to us as her 'locos'. Don't think that a case is too much to buy - split it with a friend or they make great gifts. It doesn't go bad - last time I ordered was 2 years ago and the Margaritas still taste great. Just ordered another today.... The service is great!

Hi,

Just wanted to share my little story about your margarita salt. My mother loved her margarita's, out by the pool in her hot pink bikini (1970). She has since passed away (25 years ago). However, I still remember her that way everytime I get out my Tavern Margarita salt in its original so retro container, that was hers. Thanks for the great memories and margarita's.

I am a huge fan of your Sweet 'n Sour Lemon Bar Mix. I have found none to rival it. I have been on the lookout for your mix for some time, but I noticed your label may have changed. Is this true? The Tavern Sweet 'n Sour Mix I used to buy had a red label on a clear plastic bottle. Thanks for the information and if this is you, keep up the mix!
Faris M.

Dear Faris,
Thank you for your email, and yes, you have reached the right company! As a bit of background, we are celebrating our 54th Anniversary in 2010. My uncle, Robert E. Motley, owned Tavern Products from 1969 to 2003. After spending the past 27 years in the U.S. Army and 6½ years with a surgical division of Johnson & Johnson, I purchased the company from his grandson (my cousin) in 2004 and we went through a major revitalization and rebranding effort from 2005-2007, during which time, we changed from the labels that you remembered, to our current packaging that you see on the website. Rest assured, we did not tamper with the original formula for the Tavern Sweet & Sour Mix, as that is our flagship product. It is still made with real lemon juice, unlike the majority of our competitors that are only using lemon flavor. We are working hard to expand our distribution throughout the United States, and feel that our new packaging will help us tremendously. Most importantly, it is our loyal friends like you that have helped Tavern to succeed over the past 54 years, and for that, we sincerely thank you.

Is there anywhere in Portland, Oregon that carries your products? We love the (Tavern) Sweet and Sour Mix and I'd like to try one of the margarita mixes, but I haven't found anyplace that I can get them. We've been ordering the Sweet and Sour mix from California, but paying a lot for shipping. Suggestions???
Best Regards,

Dear Jeanne,
Thank you for your email! I’m sorry for your difficulty in finding our Tavern Sweet & Sour Mix, but unfortunately, we do not have any retail distribution in Oregon. We have restaurants in Salem, OR and Happy Valley, OR that are serviced by our distributor in Kent, WA, but they are buying our Tavern Lime Juice, Grenadine Syrup, and Pina Colada Mix.

Dear Neil,
Thank you for your email! Our products have been distributed primarily in the Western U.S. since 1956. We do not have any retail distribution in Kansas, but we are working with a new distributor to try and increase our distribution in the Mid-West and East Coast. If you are representing a distributor that would like to carry our products, please feel free to give me a call and we can discuss the opportunity.

John,
My best friend and I are in a real bind. Whiskey Sours made with Tavern (Sweet & Sour Mix) is a staple in our houses. He lives in San Mateo, California, and I live in Anaheim, California. He has never been able to find Tavern Sweet and Sour (Mix) up north and as a result, I have always bought it in bulk from my local Ralph's and transported it up to him whenever I see him. Now none of the stores in my area carry your products. Is there anyway for me to purchase it directly from you? Do you have any distributors near our two cities? Mr & Mrs T’s just won’t do!
Tim S.

Dear Tim,
Thank you for your email and I’m sorry for your difficulty in finding our Tavern Sweet & Sour Mix. You can find our Tavern Sweet & Sour Mix in Gelson's Markets, Bristol Farms, and many other independent liquor stores, convenience stores, and grocery stores throughout Southern California. In April 2010, Ralph’s made the decision to discontinue our product after carrying it for several decades, with no explanation why. Stater Bros. also made the decision a few years ago to discontinue the products. We’re still trying to ascertain why they dropped our Tavern Sweet & Sour Mix and are working to get it back on their shelves. Your assistance in speaking to the Ralph's or Stater Bros. Store Manager in your area would be a great help!

I have acquired a bottle of the (Tavern Sweet & Sour) concentrate but have misplaced the label and do not have the instructions and measures to mix. Can you provide these to me to save me a trip back to the store? Thank You.
Judith N.

Dear Judith,
Our Tavern Sweet & Sour Base Concentrate is mixed 3:1 with water. Simply mix 3 parts water to 1 part Sweet & Sour Base Concentrate. I would recommend that you start with 2 parts water and slowly add the 3rd part to get the taste right for your liking. We have found that we use a little less than 3 parts, just to get a little extra flavor in our margaritas.

John,
I am opening my last bottle of your Tavern Sweet & Sour Mix to make my favorite margaritas on this rainy Sunday afternoon in Cincinnati, Ohio. I came across your product when I lived in New Mexico several years ago and stock up whenever I get out there. I contacted your company a couple of years ago and was told that a distributor in Kentucky was the closest to Cincinnati that your company has distribution arrangements with. Please forward the contact info for them so I can replenish my stock. You have a great product. All my friends rave about our drinks and I always tell them it's not my talent but rather it's your product.
Thanks,
John and Teresa M.
